About the Black Box Multipower Miniature

Built Tough

Fiber Industrial MultiPower Media Converters are designed for demanding environments including factory automation, building systems, utilities (power and water), and oil/gas facilities. Typical applications include LAN extension, fiber mode conversion, and Ethernet speed conversion. These converters come in a compact metal housing, suitable for standalone use or integration into a high-density rack mount chassis.

Efficient Copper-to-Fiber Conversion

Seamlessly and transparently convert 10/100/1000 Mbps copper to 1000 Mbps fiber. These models require one or two strands of fiber. As Layer 2 media converters, they automatically detect and adjust to the copper side speed, offering a true plug-and-play experience.

Reliable Power Redundancy

Multiple power options can be used simultaneously to maximize redundancy, ensuring mission-critical applications stay operational. If one power source fails, the remaining sources will continue to supply power seamlessly, keeping the converter running.

Link Fault Pass-Through (LFPT) Support

LFPT functionality can be enabled or disabled via a DIP switch on the unit. This feature combines TX LinkLoss (for twisted pair/copper interfaces) and FX LinkLoss (for fiber interfaces) between paired IMC Networks media converters. When enabled, LFPT passes a link fault through the device at each segment. When disabled, faults are no longer passed through making it easier for troubleshooting to find where the issue is. If a link fails on one interface, the media converter will bring down the link on its partner and pass the fault to the next interface.

Hardened and Rugged

Industrial MultiPower Media Converters are built for harsh industrial settings. When powered by DC, they support an extended temperature range of -13 to +167°F (-25 to +75°C), making them suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.
